With names like Patrick Mahomes, Tom Brady, Matthew Stafford and Peyton and Eli Manning among the most recognizable names in our pop culture, it would seem QB Union is poised to have an appeal to many. However, Thomas Hand says while that may be true, only a few are willing to put in the work and dedication it takes to be a starter in middle school and high school in football obsessed Texas.

He would know; Hand was an outstanding Highland Park QB who could not resist the opportunity to play for Hall of Fame linebacker and former NFL Coach Mike Singletary at Trinity Christian Academy when the opportunity came calling at the beginning of his junior year.

But adversity was on the horizon. Just before his first practice at TCA, Hand suffered a stress fracture on his throwing arm elbow, causing him to miss several games. He batted through the injury and returned to play late in the season with tremendous results only to suffer a concussion after only two games.

After this unfortunate season, Hand had a tremendous off-season and spring 7v7 season. However, after the first two games of his senior season, Hand left the team early in his senior season amid turmoil and controversy that affected the TCA program. Despite it all, Hand, who was also an academic stand out, received interest and scholarship offers to play football from dozens of colleges across the country including prestigious academic heavy weight programs such as Dartmouth, Amherst, Austin College, Trinity College, and Chapman University, just to name a few.

Due to the experience and the injuries, Hand ultimately chose not to play football in college and to attend Baylor University on academic scholarship as part of a family legacy and tradition dating back to his grandfather. After graduating in 2024 and being on the Dean’s List nearly every semester at Baylor, the marketing major quickly got a position at a local advertising agency as an account executive. But his desire to compete and his love of football never wavered. “I always wanted to be an entrepreneur, and I always wanted to be a quarterback, so I figured out a way to do both,” says Hand. He says he paired his knowledge of digital and traditional marketing to launch Quarterback Union.

Former TCA and HP Quarterback Launches Quarterback UnionThe QB Union website describes the company as “a Dallas-based quarterback training company that works with QBs of all skill levels grades 3-12. At QB Union, we help our quarterbacks improve with detail-oriented drills. These drills help to improve throwing mechanics, footwork, pocket movement, timing, defense recognition and overall football IQ. At QB Union, we value learning, hard work, and a fun environment. We offer 1-on-1 training and group training options.”

Hand says that he designed the program to incorporate the techniques and training methods he learned during his own 7 plus years of private QB training.

Hand says that for now he has room for new students and that you can sign up on the QB Union website (www.qbunion.com). When asked if he could see a time when the company grows to have additional instructors to accommodate growth, Hand replied “I could see growth with more support staff and possible help within the session, but I don’t ever see a time when I would not want to be the one working with each student on their mechanics, footwork, coverage recognition, and football IQ. It takes a trained eye to see where a student may have or may be developing aFormer TCA and HP Quarterback Launches Quarterback Union bad mechanical habit and each student is unique. I don’t think I would trust anyone as much as myself to see those and work to correct them.”

Hand not only works with each athlete, but also works with the athletes’ parents by informing them of the best ways to develop the athlete’s QB skills when they aren’t at a training session. “This position is a journey of discipline, focus and consistency” says Hand.
