Total Eclipse of the Park

The clock is ticking, and we are inching closer and closer to an epic event! On Apr. 8 we will be able to witness a total solar eclipse and of course, it’s a valid reason to have a party! It’s the only way to celebrate such a cool moment in history! And if it’s a party, then there has to be music and amazing food. That’s why the Town of Addison is throwing a huge party at Addison Circle Park. “Get ready to be moonstruck and sun-kissed at the celestial party of the century! On April 8, 2024, the stars align (literally) for the most electrifying event in Addison Circle Park as we come together to form a “Total Eclipse of the Park”.” Their website states. According to the NASA website, The next total solar eclipse that we will be able to see will be on Aug. 23, 2044. The website also explains what we can expect on this day, “A total solar eclipse happens when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth, completely blocking the face of the Sun. People viewing the eclipse from locations where the Moon’s shadow completely covers the Sun – known as the path of totality – will experience a total solar eclipse.”

Total Eclipse of the Park

This is an all-day event with the ‘Star’ of the show reaching totality around 1:40 p.m. Activities are happening throughout the day like a morning yoga session with Addison Circle Yoga and live music by Extended Play. Extended Play is a family-friendly cover band comprised of some of the area’s top musicians, so you know the party is going to have an amazing atmosphere. Of course, there will also be lots of lawn games brought on by Addison Outdoors. Addison Outdoors’ mission is to “provide diverse year-round fitness and leisure opportunities through our local parks and programs for those who live, work, and play in Addison.” This is going to be a great day for the whole family.

Bring your lawn chairs, coolers, umbrellas, and blankets for a super fun day in Addison Circle Park! Pack a picnic for the day or check out the food trucks that will be at the park serving up some amazing food.
