IT’S BEGINNING TO LOOK A LOT LIKE CHRISTMAS! Yes! We are moving closer and closer to one of the happiest times of the year! This year has flown by, it feels like we blinked and now we’re at the end of the year. But hear me out, I have no complaints. I love this holiday season. We get to see friends and family that we haven’t seen in a while. We get all the holiday meals! All the pies, all the delicious hot chocolate, and all the family traditions. One of those traditions for us as a family is the Vitruvian Lights. For the past 11 years, our family has made its way to Vitruvian Park at least once during each holiday season to see all of the amazing lights. We walk around the park admiring the lit trees, checking out the different vendors on site, and trying out the different food trucks. It’s the unofficial start to the Christmas season for many and is widely considered one of the best light shows around.
A yearly event, Vitruvian Lights will officially open on Nov. 18 and will run through Jan. 1 at Vitruvian Park right here in Addison. The tree lights will be on daily from 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.

There are lots of different events planned throughout this year’s holiday season starting on Nov. 18 when they will “flip the switch” at 6:00 p.m. According to the Vitruvian Lights website, “The merriment continues with a Vitruvian Lights first, performance by Vocal Majority, food trucks, and vendors, FREE photos with Santa, holiday characters, and an elf balloon artist. Letters to Santa returns and we welcome Mrs. Claus as well as live reindeer for fantastic holiday photos.”

The musical guest for Nov. 18 is Vocal Majority. If you haven’t heard them yet, Vocal Majority is a group of over 100 men that was formed in 1971 by 12 men and over the years has grown and brought musical joy to thousands through live performances and various albums. According to their website, “Over the years, the Vocal Majority has released more than two dozen recordings that feature their diverse musical repertoire that spans from sacred and inspirational, patriotic, time-honored barbershop, jazz, Broadway, pops, and Christmas. ” No better way to kick off this year’s light show than with an amazing musical guest spreading Christmas joy with their music.
On Nov. 25, the Jordan Kahn Orchestra will be performing, and the night will again feature free photos with Santa, food trucks, an elf balloon artist, and more! The Jordan Kahn Orchestra is unlike any other band you’ve heard, as their website says, “Jordan Kahn’s bands have performed for former Presidents and First Families, Dancing With The Stars, The Bachelor and The Real Housewives Franchise television stars’ weddings, Mark Cuban, Sean Payton, Draymond Green, Jerry Jones, and Kathy Hilton.” Needless to say, this night will be one for the books so come ready to have fun and enjoy a great night out.

According to the Vitruvian Park website, the park is “A spring-fed creek and 19 acres of green space make up the showcase amenity of Vitruvian Park and serve as the heart of the development. A walkway meanders along with the creek and connects to other regional trails. Future enhancements will include the addition of athletic fields, art installations, a sculptural playscape, and an interactive fountain.” But during this holiday season, the park gets a fun and beautiful Christmas makeover.
Vitruvian Lights is an amazing opportunity to walk around the park and admire all of the trees decorated with millions of Christmas lights. The park truly transforms into a magical place where everyone can experience the magic of Christmas. Make it a fun evening picnic with family and friends as you lay out some picnic blankets and enjoy the evening looking at the lights and maybe something to eat. If you are worried about bringing your furry best friend, don’t be. Vitruvian Park is pet-friendly, just make sure they are on a leash.
Of course, if you want to grab a bite to eat and still see the lights, grab a spot and a refreshing drink at Addison Ice House and enjoy looking at the lights and of course the people watching. The menu is filled with lots of delicious dishes and a drink menu that will not disappoint you.
Parking and entry are free, and parking is available onsite at Vitruvian Park, Park Road, and Ponte Avenue Parking Lots. For more information, click here.
So, make sure to come out, bring your friends and family, and show them one of the most beautiful Christmas lights displays around! We hope that this holiday season is filled with lots of joy, amazing food, and special moments, and because I’m still very much a kid at heart, lots, and lots of presents!
