Labor Day is coming up on Monday, September 4th. This day is to honor and remember those who have fought for workers’ rights in the workplace, and is celebrated with a much-needed day off of work. This year, celebrate the holiday with friends and family and soak in that three-day weekend.
A Game of Cornhole
If you have a cornhole set, this is the perfect time to use it. Divide the family up into teams and play as many games as you’d like. You can have some friendly trash talk with each other as you try to throw the beanbags into tiny holes. For the scoring, simply give one point if a beanbag lands on the board and three points if it is thrown through the hole or knocked there by another bag.
The summer heat is still around which means a long dip in the pool will feel so cool and refreshing. Neighborhood and community pools are always an option for those who live somewhere with a pool. The Addison Athletic Club outdoor pool is still open on weekend only, so Addison residents who are Athletic Club Members can enjoy that amenity this weekend.
Spend the Day Outdoors
Taking the family to a park is a great way to spend the day. Whether you bring your bikes, some sporting equipment, or just yourselves, there are plenty of fun things to do outdoors. Choose a time that works best for your family whether in the morning, mid-day, or evening, and spend some quality time together. There are some great places in Addison to choose from, including Vitruvian Park, Addison Circle Park or Bosque Park.
Have a Picnic
You can do this while you are at the park, or you can set up a picnic in your own backyard. Simply roll out a big, comfy blanket or throw, get some cool drinks ready, and have a delicious, easy-to-make meal. We suggest having some cool sandwiches, fresh fruit, and crunchy chips to eat (and maybe something sweet too).
