The most anticipated time of year has finally arrived—the holidays are here! It’s the season of Hallmark movies, Starbucks peppermint mochas, and Addison festivities. If you’re looking for a cheery excursion then get excited for two of Addison’s most popular attractions. Vitruvian Lights and the Dallas Galleria Christmas are local holiday hits.
Vitruvian Lights at Vitruvian Park
Addison celebrates its 10th anniversary of Vitruvian Lights. Every year hundreds of trees all along the park are decorated in colorful and vibrant lights. It’s a charming spectacle of holiday hues and serves as the perfect backdrop for your photo opportunities. Take a stroll through this winter wonderland while sipping on hot cocoa or lounging on a blanket with your pet.
Immerse yourself into the holiday spirit starting November 25th until January 1st. Vitruvian Lights will be open from 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. so bring your favorite holiday snack or a to-go eggnog and enjoy the spectacular sight.
Oh, and the best part is admission and parking are free!
The Christmas Tree at Galleria Dallas
The iconic Christmas tree is back! The Galleria is home to the nation’s largest indoor Christmas tree. The tree made its debut in 1984 and has been a holiday staple ever since. The 95-foot tree is garnished with 450,000 glittering lights and 10,000 classic-colored ornaments. The cherry on top is the 100-pound, 10-foot star standing at the crown of the tree.
Need to get some holiday shopping done? Looking for a fun family outing? Then kill two birds with one stone and head on down to the Galleria. The tree is located at the center of the ice skating rink and it sure isn’t hard to miss. There’s nothing quite like dancing and gliding around a massive tree to get you in the Christmas spirit.
Grab a yummy slice of pizza from Luciano or order some warm nachos at Mi Cocina, and catch a glimpse of the annual grand tree lighting celebration. This wintry entertainment features Olympic skaters and an ice-skating Santa. It even includes a firework finale! There are two showtimes: Friday, November 25th at noon and Saturday, November 26th at 6:00 p.m.
Can’t make it? Don’t sweat it. There are plenty of other chances to see the Christmas tree in action. Everyday from November 25th to December 24th there will be a special music and light show on display at noon, 2:00 p.m., 4:00 p.m., and 6:00 p.m.
