Diet and Exercise
As your metabolism slows, you’ll want to focus on a healthy diet and exercise to combat potential weight gain and keep your body healthy. Your 30s are a great time to find an active hobby or sport that you truly enjoy, so you can continue this exercise throughout your life. Examples include golf, yoga, running, weightlifting, and more. If you’re new to working out and eating healthy, consider hiring a dietician or personal trainer to help you through your journey. If you smoke, now is the time to stop, as this will lead to quicker aging and health complications later on. Avoiding alcohol and staying hydrated are other great habits to adopt early on.
As you age, you’re at a higher risk for disease. See your primary care physician annually so you can catch any potential diseases early. Women in their 30s should see a radiologist for a mammogram. Other doctors you should visit during this decade include an optometrist to check your eyesight and a fertility doctor to discuss family planning options and fertility concerns.
You may want to consider seeing a mental health professional in your 30s to help you through your journey. Professional resources in Addison include Dr. Stallworth Counseling and Baylor Scott & White. Manage your stress through exercise, deep breathing or meditation, taking breaks during work and making time for your hobbies. You should be sleeping 7-9 hours a night and waking up feeling well rested. If you are not, you should consider reaching out to a sleep professional to see how they can aid your sleep.
Teeth become more brittle and prone to decay as you age, so staying on top of proper oral care early will help you later on. You should be brushing twice a day, flossing daily, and seeing a dentist for a cleaning at least once a year. Visit Addison Dental Group or Addison Family Dentistry for your annual cleanings. Poor oral health can lead to disease within other parts of your body, so you don’t want to overlook proper oral care.
Skin and Hair Care
We all want to maintain a youthful glow, and starting a proper skincare routine as early as possible will help you avoid wrinkles and maintain moisture. If you aren’t already, you should be using an SPF daily to protect against sun damage. Make sure you are moisturizing properly, and consider using an anti-aging serum.
