Get Your Fried Chicken Fix for National Fried Chicken Day!
Delicious fried chicken deserves its own national holiday!

Fried chicken lovers rejoice! July 6th, we celebrate National Fried Chicken Day! As history tells us, Scottish immigrants brought their tradition of deep-frying chicken in fat as early as the 1830s, although unseasoned, this is how this delicious dish made it to the southern states where the recipe began to get seasonings added to it and where we get the fried chicken recipes we know and love.

Fried chicken is easy enough to make. You have chicken pieces that are floured or battered and then either pan-fried or deep-fried. We all have different ways of seasoning it, but one thing remains the same, it is so delicious!

But let’s get to where to get some delicious fried chicken in Addison!

First, let’s stop at Ida-Claire for Ida’s Fried Chicken. Served with peaches, marinated cucumbers, red onions, feta, baby mustard greens, and a lemon vinaigrette, you must try this tasty meal. If you are looking for something around brunch, try the Chicken & Waffle. www.ida-claire.com

While you are at Sidecar Social, take a break from all the games and try out their Southern Fried Chicken Tenders. They are lightly spiced and hand-breaded and served with sweet coleslaw and fries. www.sidecarsocial.com

Looking to try out something a little bit different? Visit Bonchon for some delicious Korean Fried Chicken. You get your choices of flavors like Soy Garlic, Spicy, or Half and Half. It’s also served with a side of pickled radish or coleslaw. It’s quite flavorful and I have become a big fan of it. www.bonchon.com

Out for a stroll with your furry friend and getting hungry? Walk over to Lazy Dog for their Fried Chicken Dinner. It’s hand-dipped buttermilk boneless chicken breast served with red skin potato mash, white gravy, spiced maple syrup, and sauteed spinach with smoked bacon.  Don’t forget to grab something from the doggy menu for your dog. It’s a win-win! www.lazydogrestaurants.com
