“Fatherhood is the greatest thing that could ever happen. You can’t explain it until it happens; it’s like telling somebody what water feels like before they’ve ever swam in it.” —Michael Bublé
I don’t know that it can be explained any better. It is one of the true greatest feelings in the world, as well as one of the scariest. To know that you are now responsible for another life can be quite scary, but you try your best and hope to get it right more than you get it wrong. For all the sacrifices our dads have made for us, and for the ones we make for our own kids, let’s celebrate dad this Father’s Day well. Let’s make sure he knows how much he is loved and appreciated.
The old saying goes, “The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach.” And it is quite true. A delicious steak, bacon, the perfect burger, the best Italian meal this side of the old country, a burrito as big as a baby. All of these and more should be part of the great feast for dad this year.
The King’s Feast
Table 13 is preparing a feast fit for a king. Make reservations for Father’s Day at Table 13 this year and treat dad like a king. The King’s Feast special will be available exclusively from 5 to 8:30 p.m. (last seating) on Jun. 19. This special evening will also feature live music by Henry Muñoz and reservations are required. Seafood and steaks. Scratch that. Cajun, seafood, and steaks. Yes, that’s the play. Nate’s Seafood & Steakhouse has been serving all three for over 30 years and it’s a place where as soon as you walk in it transports you to the coast where life is a little bit slower and relaxed. Treat dad to Nate’s famous Louisiana Boiled Crawfish, amazing fish tacos, boiled shrimp, Gumbo or one of my favorites, the Redfish Pontchartrain. A 10oz grilled Redfish on the half shell topped with crabmeat, and fresh mushrooms and sauteed in a brown butter wine sauce. It’s simply amazing. A meal fit for an awesome dad. Nate’s also features live music by Jackie Don Loe on Sundays from 7 to 11 p.m. You might be dad’s favorite after this Father’s Day. www.natesseafood.com
Is dad a competitor? Did you get your competitive genes from him? Then take him to Sidecar Social and exercise that gene. Ping pong, indoor bocce ball, darts and so much more await a fun-filled Father’s Day outing this year. Of course, Sidecar serves up delicious dishes and craft cocktails for all to enjoy as well as a great selection of ice-cold brews. Check out the full menu on their website, www.sidecarsocial.com
How about dinner and the latest blockbuster movie? AMC’s Village on the Parkway 9 is the best place to catch the latest comedy or action-packed movie. Watch the latest Jurassic Park installment, Jurassic World Dominion, or if your dad grew up in the 90s like me, he is probably waiting for Pixar’s Lightyear to debut on Father’s Day weekend! Don’t forget to get the giant bucket of popcorn and a large drink. Grab a bite to eat across the theater at Hopdoddy Burger Bar or Pluckers. Nothing like a delicious burger or wings and a movie! There is plenty of parking available in the parking garage next to the theater but make sure to get your tickets and choose your seat online to avoid getting a bad seat for the movie, www.amctheatres.com
For a quieter evening and some of the best Italian cuisine anywhere, make plans, and reservations, at Antonio Ristorante in Addison Circle. “Authentic Italian food in the heart of Addison, Texas!” Antonio’s features amazing seafood, pastas, chicken, steak, veal and of course great pizza. If you go later in the afternoon or early evening, enjoy your meal outside in their beautiful patio area. Visit their website for the full menu and to make your reservation today, www.antonioristorante.com
Perhaps no other meal encompasses that “Dad Feast” quite like The Elvis Presley Memorial Combo at Chuy’s. You get a seasoned ground beef enchilada with Tex-Mex Sauce, chicken enchilada with Tomatillo Sauce, cheese enchilada with Ranchero Sauce, crispy taco, and homemade tostada chips dipped in queso. This is a meal fit for a king. But if your dad is into burritos as big as a small child, their famous “Big As Yo’ Face” Burritos will not disappoint. These come filled with refried beans, cheese, and your choice of ground beef, roasted chicken or fajita beef, or chicken. I cannot properly express how delicious these burritos are, you just need to try them out for yourself. www.chuys.com
We hope this Father’s Day will be the best one yet, filled with food, games, and great memories!
