“How do you like your eggs?” The timeless question you get asked at every breakfast spot. Sunny-side-up, scrambled, hard-boiled or poached eggs for those of us who love eggs, June 3 will be an especially great day. Why you might ask, it’s because, on June 3, we celebrate National Egg Day.
Yes, you read that correctly. June 3 is National Egg Day and we are ready to celebrate by making the rounds to our favorite breakfast and brunch spots as well as a not so breakfast-type spot.
Let’s start at Norma’s Café. Their breakfast menu is quite extensive but my two favorites here are the Migas and the Ol’ Number 7. The Migas are made with scrambled eggs and tortilla chips, jalapeño peppers, tomato, and onions and served with fresh salsa. On the Ol’ Number 7, you get One biscuit, 3 scrambled eggs, bacon, and hash browns smothered in sausage gravy then topped with melted cheddar cheese, jalapenos, tomatoes, and another biscuit. “Still the cure for what ails ya.” www.normascafe.com
Enjoy the Snooze Breakfast Burrito out on their patio for brunch. This thing is loaded! A flour tortilla gets filled with scrambled cage-free eggs, hash browns, house black beans, cheddar, and jack cheese. Then topped with pico de gallo and your choice of house-made green chile or ranchero sauce. If you are looking for something a little different, try the Huevos Tostadas. Crispy corn tostada tortillas get layered with their house black beans, jack cheese, and their house-made green chile and ranchero sauces. Finally, it gets topped with two sunny-side-up eggs, Cotija cheese, scallions, and pickled peppers. You might not need to worry about lunch after these delicious dishes. www.snoozeeatery.com
Hopdoddy is known for its amazing burgers. The Bacon Jamm Double, El Diablo, Llano Poblano, the Classic and so many more. But did you know you can add a fried egg to any one of their burgers? If you haven’t tried a burger with a fried egg yet this is your chance! Try it out on National Egg Day, I promise you will not regret it! www.hopdoddy.com
