The Benefits of Acupuncture

The Benefits of AcupunctureAcupuncture is a form of traditional Chinese medicine that is said to have a multitude of health benefits. It works by penetrating the skin with small, solid needles that stimulate the central nervous system. This then releases chemicals into your body that stimulate the body’s natural healing abilities and promote physical and emotional well-being.

If you’re scared of needles, you can rest easy knowing that most people report feeling minimal pain while the needles are inserted, and even express feeling relaxed during the process.

The origins of acupuncture date back to over 8,000 years ago, used by Chinese practitioners who use this as a technique for balancing the flow of energy or life force. Today, acupuncture is still practiced by trained and licensed practitioners.

Conditions that acupuncture is said to help include chemotherapy-induced nausea, dental pain, fibromyalgia, headaches and migraines, labor pain, lower back and neck pain, menstrual cramps, respiratory disorders, and more.

For those interested in trying acupuncture, there’s plenty of great practices in Addison and the North corridor of Dallas such as the Acupuncture Center of Dallas, Spring Valley Acupuncture, East-West Acupuncture, and Southwest Acupuncture Clinic. Be sure to consult with your insurance beforehand, as some insurances cover acupuncture.
