As we finally start getting some cold weather in, it’s time to enjoy some delicious warm and comforting dishes. For me, one of my favorite cold-weather dishes is chili. Warm, hearty, and a little spicy. For some reason, it is a dish that represents cold weather for me. Whether you have a family recipe you use or if you go out to a restaurant to get it, nothing hits the spot during these cold days like a warm bowl of chili.
Let’s start with a simple yet delicious recipe to try out at home. This one comes to us from Ree Drummond, host of The Pioneer Woman on Food Network. here are the ingredients you will need, which by the way you can find at Whole Foods, Kroger, or Thumb Tom.
- 2 pounds ground beef
- 2 cloves garlic, chopped
- One 8-ounce can of tomato sauce
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon ground oregano
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/4 cup masa harina
- One 15-ounce can of kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- One 15-ounce can of pinto beans, drained and rinsed
- Shredded Cheddar, for serving
- Chopped onions, for serving
- Tortilla chips, for serving
- Lime wedges, for serving
