Perhaps one of the season’s most well-known songs by the incredible Mariah Carey perfectly describes one of Addison’s amazing Christmas displays. The Christmas lights at Vitruvian Park. This is the ninth year of this amazing Christmas lights event, and it has become a holiday tradition to thousands!
The lights will be on daily from 5 to 11 p.m. until Jan. 2. While you can drive through the road that goes around the park, it’s a lot more fun to park your car (free parking) and walk around and truly take in this amazing display of lights. It is truly a magical holiday experience.
There are lots of places for photo ops, of course, you can bring your dog and walk the trails. One of our favorite things to do is to walk the park with our kids and let them run and see all the different color trees.
You can also grab a bite to eat at one of the restaurants right in the park.
Check out Vitruvian Park Tavern. The kitchen is open daily from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. and the Bar from 2 p.m. to midnight. “The menu features Tavern favorites with Burgers and Gourmet Sandwiches leading the way. Our Grilled Cheese with Tomato Soup is warm and satisfying. Appetizers like Onion Dip, Hummus, and popcorn shrimp are all quite sharable. Healthy options are abundant but sometimes there is no replacement for French Fries or Sour Cream Mashed Potatoes.” www.vitruvianparktavern.com
You can also pop into Addison Ice House and enjoy the lights from their party patio! “With its gorgeous outdoor view, a great selection of your favorite craft beers, and tasty, Texas-style pub grub – yeah, you bet that means some mouthwaterin’ barbecue – Addison Ice House is made for good times, whether you’re inside enjoying the vibe of its industrial-chic interior or out on the deck soaking in the view of Vitruvian Park.”
Addison Ice House is open from 3 p.m. to 1 a.m. Monday to Thursday, 3 p.m. to 1 a.m. on Friday, 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. on Saturdays, and on Sundays from 11 a.m. to midnight.
If you prefer to bring your own food, try laying down a blanket and having a picnic by the Christmas lights. Maybe a delicious charcuterie board or some snacks for the kids all right next to the amazing trees all lit up with thousands and thousands of lights!
While we may not see snow in the forecast-just yet-the temperatures will still be cold so make sure to bundle up as you head out for a night out on the park. For more information on Vitruvian Park visit their website.
