Where to Give in the Corridor for National Giving Day

Where to Give in the Corridor for National Giving DayIn the midst of the turkey eating, holiday decorating, and gift shopping, we sometimes forget the most important part of the holiday season: giving back to others. This time of year reminds us to be thankful for what we have – and to give back to the community. November 30 is National Giving Day, a time to donate money, needed items, or time to help out others. Keep reading for some fantastic local organizations to give back to this week.

Operation Kindness

Operation Kindness provides medical care, a foster program, a pet food pantry, a surrender prevention program, education, companionship, and other assistance to animals in North Texas. You can give back by donating money, setting up an ongoing monthly gift, giving a tribute gift in honor of an animal lover, giving in memory of a loved one, supporting the medical fund, and by shopping through Amazon Smile or Max Fund to support Operation Kindness.

Metrocrest Services

Helping individuals, families, and seniors navigate crisis situations and work to stabilize their lives for a brighter future is what Metrocrest Services does every day. You can give back by partnering with them to host a holiday drive; donate money to support their emergency financial assistance or financial empowerment programs; donate food or time to the food pantry; volunteer for employment coaching, seasonal programs, or senior services; and more.

Make-A-Wish North Texas

Did you know that every 20 minutes, a child is diagnosed with a critical illness? Thanks to Corridor-based Make-A-Wish North Texas, over 300 wishes were granted last year alone, and over 12,000 wishes were granted across the 161 Texas counties served to children. Donate to help a child’s wish come true this season.

Santa’s Heroes Toy Drive

The Addison Police and Fire Departments join together to host the Santa’s Heroes Toy Drive every holiday season! The mission of this toy drive is “for every child in Addison to receive a toy from Santa Cop and Rudolph the Rescue Reindeer through a mobile Christmas Village, and help disadvantaged families by providing Christmas gifts for their children.” Donate gift cards and new, unwrapped toys at the Police Department and Fire Department lobby, any Addison Town buildings, or a participating donating site. Email policecommunityoutreach@addisontx.gov for any questions.
