For those of us who love food and lots of it, Addison is our delicious playground. We have within walking or a short drive’s a plethora of cuisines from around the world. Name it and Addison has it. From delicious authentic Thai cuisine to some of the best Mexican food you’ve ever tasted, it’s all here. Let’s take a trip around the world in Addison.
Let’s start at Thai Box. Authentic Thai cuisine always made fresh to order. I’m a sucker for Pad Thai and I cannot get enough of it here. It’s Stir-fried rice noodles with Thai Box’s sweet and sour sauce, bean sprouts, egg, green onions, and crushed peanuts. I like it a little spicy, so I’ll usually get a “3 spicy” which has just enough spice to it without the heat overtaking the rest of the flavors. Oh, and how could I forget their egg rolls! These I could eat a dozen of and not even blink. So amazingly delicious! Check out their full menu online, www.thaiboxdallas.com
For the best Colombian food in town, you have to go to El Portal Café. The food here is just like the way my mom would cook for us when we were kids; in fact, this is the only Colombian restaurant in town my parents will eat at. The atmosphere is always friendly, Lalo and Andres always make you feel like you are part of the family. Try the traditional Bandeja Paisa. Here’s what it comes with, steamed white rice, pinto bean soup, fried pork, fried plantains, avocado, fried egg, and grilled steak. It’s so much food! I would actually recommend splitting it between two people for a couple of reasons. One, it is a lot of food but more importantly, when you split it, you’ll have room to try out the bakery items. At Gloria’s Latin Cuisine you can taste the Salvadorian and Central American flavors you didn’t know you needed. Pupusas, Salvadorian tamales, and so many delicious seafood dishes. Try the Mariscada, “Our famous seafood soup made with shrimp, scallops, red snapper, mussels, lobster tail, and vegetables.” I also recommend the Churrasco Tipico. This one is a 10 oz. top sirloin served with Spanish rice, black bean soup, fried plantains, yuca, and a very tasty chimichurri sauce. Check out the full menu online, www.gloriascuisine.com
