Beauty, heartbreak, and inspiration can all be found at Outcry Theatre’s production of The Glass Menagerie, playing through August 15!

The show is described as “a drama of great tenderness, charm and beauty,” and “an icon of the American theater.” It is about Amanda Wingfield, a faded remnant of Southern gentility, who now lives in a dingy St. Louis apartment with her son, Tom, and her daughter, Laura, who has a physical handicap and debilitating shyness. The children’s father has left home, so Tom supports his mother and sister with an unbearable job at a shoe factory. When Amanda convinces Tom to bring home from his work a gentleman caller for Laura, the illusions that Tom, Amanda, and Laura have each created in order to make life bearable collapse around them.

The Glass Menagerie was written by Tennessee Williams and is directed by Becca Johnson-Spinos. It stars Brayden Lawrence and Matthew Gay as Tom; Alexa Stratton and Isabella Wilson as Amanda; Alex Gray, Isabella Hamilton and Savannah Stringer as Laura; and Corbin Ross, Harrison Polen, and Ty Lam as Jim.

Showtimes include:

  • August 12 at 7:30 p.m.
  • August 13 at 7:30 p.m.
  • August 14 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
  • August 15 at 2 p.m.

Tickets are available for $10-15 per person for general admission and $20 for premium reserved seating. Performance will be at the Studio Theatre at the Addison Theatre Centre.

This will be an entertaining and beautiful play to see with your family, for a date night or even by yourself! Don’t miss your last few chances to see the show at Outcry Theatre.
