Date Night in Addison

After more than a year of date-nights at home, it feels nice to go out on the town! Flirt with new people over happy hour, dance to live music with your spouse, and simply enjoy beautiful summer nights in Addison. Whether you are going on a first date or a 400th date, here are some fun ideas to try!

Start your night with drinks at Sidecar Social, where you can get $4 call drinks and ½ off house wine by the glass weekdays until 6 p.m. Then, stay late for some live music Wednesday-Sunday. This week’s lineup includes:

  • Live band karaoke at 8 p.m. Wednesday
  • Joseph Veazie at 7 p.m. Thursday
  • Austin Campbell at 7 p.m. Friday
  • Elevation at 9 p.m. Friday
  • Shane Watson at 7 p.m. Saturday
  • Tenacity at 9 p.m. Saturday
  • Jade Nicol at 2 p.m. Sunday

When you leave, walk around Village on the Parkway, which is filled with bars, restaurants, spas, shopping, and entertainment. You can go to Zero Latency, a virtual reality event complete with fun games to play together. Or stop in Grand Spa for a romantic couples massage. Later, you can go to AMC Village on the Parkway 9 to see a movie, like Cruella, A Quiet Place II, Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard, In the Heights, and more.

Interested in live shows instead? At Addison Improv, you can see Alvin Newsome and Friends this Thursday night at 8 p.m. Newsome is a DFW comedy scene regular, who has performed around the country, making audiences laugh with his content on marriage, parenthood, getting older, corporate America, and more. Then, Friday-Sunday Cristela Alonzo will be performing. Alonzo has been on her own ABC show Cristela, has appeared on Conan and The View, has been featured on Comedy Central’s Live at Gotham, and was one of the female comedians on Showtime Network’s Legally Brown. She has also won awards for short films and has a comedy special on Netflix. Tickets are available at 7:30 p.m. and 9:45 p.m. Friday, 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Saturday, and 7:30 p.m. Sunday.

This weekend is also your last chance to see the new adaption of William Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing, presented by The Classics Theatre Project at the Addison Theatre Centre. According to its bio, “When the AA baseball team, the Aragon Soldiers, arrives in town, the dashing Claudio and fast-talking Benedick take their at-bats with the lovely Hero and fierce Beatrice. Claudio and Hero quickly fall in love but Benedick and Beatrice (both sworn singles) round no bases, matching only wits and trading jabs. As their friends team up to spark love between the two, the dastardly Don John threatens to destroy both couples in this fresh take on William Shakespeare’s crowd-pleasing tale of outrageous characters, pranks, mistaken identities, and new love.”

The show is a ‘90s nostalgia-filled adaption of Shakespeare, which makes for a fun event under the stars. Audiences are invited to bring their lawn chairs, blankets, and picnics to fully relax and enjoy open-air theatre.

Another fun date-night activity is going to Ida Claire’s! Besides their amazing southern comfort food (those duck nachos!), they also offer a fun movie night featuring throwback movies and themed cocktails every Thursday night at 8 p.m. and live music every Friday night from 8-11 p.m. Of course, you could also come during Vinyl Hour, taking place Monday-Friday from 3-6 p.m. and 9-11 p.m. with happy hour drinks, bar bites, and classic records.

Ready to start planning your second date? You can’t go wrong with Addison Kaboom Town, returning to Addison Circle Park July 3! The event opens at 5 p.m. with an Addison Airport Freedom Flyover with historic warbirds from the Cavanaugh Flight Museum and other specialty aircraft flying overhead from 7-8:30 p.m. Then, don’t miss the amazing fireworks show beginning at 9:30 p.m.! You can also book a hotel package or reserve tickets at a restaurant viewing party for even more fun.

Falling in love is one of the most amazing feelings in the world – especially when you can do it in a town you love. Dating, spending quality time with your partner or spouse, or even hanging out with friends is special, so don’t skimp on it. The weather is beautiful, the nights are long, and the Town of Addison is filled with so many opportunities for romance and fun. You’re sure to have a good time, no matter what!
