What’s the perfect way to kickoff summer, you ask? Why, Addison After Dark: ‘70s Night Out is, of course! Chillax at this fun, ‘70s-themed event, filled with a totally bomb costume contest, a rad-lineup of music, dance lessons, food, a signature drink and more. Oh, and did I mention admission is totally free? That’s what I’m talking about, man!
Travel back to the ‘80s with live music from Le Freak and Silent Rumor Band, dance lessons from Studio 22, a far-out costume contest, and more. According to its website, “This night is sure to by dy-no-mite!”
The night begins with dance lessons from Studio 22, a celebrity-favorite ballroom and social dance club. After you learn some ways to boogie, test out your skills to the music of Silent Rumor Band, performing at 7:30 p.m. This group provides a wide variety of music from over five decades and will be focusing specifically on ‘70s favorites for the night. At 9 p.m., the costume contest starts, so be sure to wear your bell bottoms, platform shoes, and ‘70s hairstyles. Afterward, Le Freak performs at 9:30 p.m. Billed as “The Greatest Disco Band in the World,” Le Freak is made up of Marvin “Cupcake” Jackson-Osmond on guitars/vocals, Bo Bandit on drums/vocals, Minnesota “Soda” Mick James, and Curly “The Package” Brown.
Later, take a break from the fun to enjoy free In-N-Out Burger meals to the first 1,000 guests! You can also get a shaved ice or ice cream from Tikiz Shaved Ice onsite. If you don’t want that, you can always grab food to-go from a restaurant at the nearby Addison Circle and Quorum Road intersection, and just have a picnic in the park. Don’t forget to try the signature drink of the night, created by America’s Finest Beverage Catering: the Raspberry Wine Sparkling Cocktail!
“To make the most of a fun night out, dress for the theme, bring a blanket or lawn chair, and get ready for an unforgettable night out in Addison!” stated a recent press release.
Addison’s monthly festival series brings a fresh perspective on themed entertainment to Addison Circle Park.
