We are in the thick of Salsa month (pardon the pun) and we are having a blast! One of our favorite appetizers is being celebrated this month and I am here to share some of the places where you can celebrate along. Whether you are like me and your motto is “the spicier the food the better” or if you are on the other side where things are a little milder or somewhere in the middle, we can celebrate this delicious dish together.
Let’s start at Chuy’s. With eight different salsas to choose from, you are going to need to stop by more than once. I mean, check out this line up from their menu online:
Tomatillo, Deluxe Tomatillo, Ranchero, Tex-Mex, Red Chile, Boom-Boom, Green Chile, and their house specialty, the Hatch Green Chile. The Hatch Green Chile is made with fire-roasted New Mexican green chiles and caramelized onions and goes great with everything! www.chuys.com
You may not think of a diner when you are looking for delicious salsa, but Norma’s Café is no ordinary diner. One of my favorite dishes is on their breakfast menu. Migas. I’m talking scrambled eggs on top of tortilla chips with jalapeños, tomatoes and onions, jack and cheddar cheese, and their freshly made salsa. And the salsa ties it all together so deliciously. It has the right amount of heat to make this dish one of my favorites. www.normascafe.com
Lupe Tortilla is well known for its marinated fajitas, but while you wait for those delicious lime pepper marinated fajitas to come to your table, enjoy their chips and salsa. Think of a pico de gallo flavored salsa, it’s chunky and when you grab a nice tortilla chip full of it, it’s just perfect. www.tex-mex.com
Fuzzy’s Taco Shop on Midway serves up a very tasty fire-roasted salsa with their house special chips. The pairing of their salsa and chips seasoned with Fuzzy Dust is all you need as an appetizer and a great way to celebrate Salsa Month. www.fuzzystacoshop.com
