Stuffed puppies are bringing joy to kids — and helping real-life dogs at the same time. Raising Cane’s recently completed its winter plush puppy campaign, which raised $13,764.65 for Corridor-based Operation Kindness.

Operation Kindness’s mission is to save the lives of homeless animals. The organization was honored to receive support from Raising Cane’s on behalf of its annual plush puppy campaign, which donates proceeds from every exclusively themed plush puppy purchased during winter months. This campaign is a holiday fundraiser with the goal of positively impacting animal welfare organizations. Presented with the check from the partnership on March 4, Operation Kindness was awarded just over $13,700 to continue providing life-saving care to animals in need of love, kindness and most importantly, a home.

“The yearly partnership we have with Raising Cane’s is exciting for us because it’s an interactive way to introduce individuals to the important issue of pet homelessness,” said Natalie Buxton, the director of marketing and communications for Operation Kindness, in a recent press release. “It’s an event we look forward to due to the kindness and support from Raising Cane’s, as well as the generosity of the community who participate. Opportunities like this allow us to make a difference in the lives of dogs and cats, and we couldn’t be more grateful to Raising Cane’s for allowing us to be a part of their annual plush puppy campaign. We are tremendously grateful for the support and honored to receive this donation.”

The plush puppy is named Cozy Cane, who is dedicated to spreading a little extra holiday cheer. Decked out in comfy pajamas and a hat, every purchase of Cozy Cane from customers at participating locations during the 2020 holiday season directly impacted Operation Kindness. The fundraising program initially established in 2004 on behalf of Raising Cane’s founder, Todd Graves, and his beloved dog, Raising Cane, helps uplift the community by making a positive impact on the health and wellness of dogs and cats. The generous donation from Raising Cane’s to Operation Kindness will help further the organization’s ability to assist animals with the resources they need until they’re ready for adoption. Daily necessities include life-saving treatment, food, shelter, toys, blankets, kindness and love.

The funds from this partnership will be utilized by Operation Kindness to continue its advocacy on behalf of animals and their wellness. Contributions from partnerships, programs and resources drive the mission of the organization to prioritize the health and welfare of all animals in its care by giving them a second chance at a great quality of life. Animal homelessness is a complex issue but working together with like-minded individuals such as Raising Cane’s, Operation Kindness gives pets a chance to overcome challenging obstacles until they’re ready to be adopted.

From life-saving medical services to enrichment programs to training and much more, animals get the chance to grow, socialize and thrive in a safe environment. This impacts thousands of lives with the love and kindness they deserve, helping to actualize the vision Operation Kindness has where all animals are cared for, loved, and able to find a family to call their own. With a dedicated staff and over four decades of experience, Operation Kindness continues to be a leader in the animal rescue space with the help of the community, their generosity and compassion for the wellbeing of animals.

Founded in 1976, Operation Kindness is a pioneer in North Texas for providing assistance to animals in need of medical care, companionship, and most of all, a home. Its mission is to care for homeless cats and dogs in a no-kill environment until each is adopted into a responsible home. As an advocate for humane values and behaviors, Operation Kindness has been able to save more than 112,500 animals since its inception.
