It might not always be the first thing that pops into your mind when you are doing your daily beauty routine, but taking care of your eyebrows is a crucial part. Your eyebrows can help shape your face and make you feel fabulous. Below are some steps that you can take to up your eyebrow game.
Moisturize Your Face
Moisturizing your face daily is essential to keeping it healthy and smooth. This is especially true when your face is constantly exposed to air quality, weather, and sun. Using a moisturizer that has at least SPF 30 in it will protect your skin from potential damage. Don’t forget to add moisturizer to your brows either as the skin underneath needs so love and attention too. By doing this, you are reducing your chances of fine lines, sagging skin, sun damage, premature aging – which can all affect the shape of your eyebrows.
Condition Your Brows
Just like the hair on your head, your eyebrow hair needs to be conditioned as it helps restore the natural shine, makes it smoother, and prevents hair loss and breakage. However, do not use the same conditioner you use for your hair; use a specific Brow Conditioner instead, like the Ulta Brow Primer and Conditioner, or you can use some ingredients you have at home. If you are looking to condition your brows, apply a little coconut oil to your brows. If you are wanting to condition and grow your brows, use castor oil. Whichever oil you decide to use, apply it at least 3 times a week after you bathe or wash your face.
Find Your Natural Eyebrow Shape
It’s important to make sure that the shape of your eyebrows is natural and compliments your face. To find out the natural shape, place the eyebrow pencil on the outermost point of your nose and point it towards your forehead, as this marks the point where your eyebrow starts. Keep the pencil in the same line of the nostril and turn the pencil diagonally towards your eye’s outer corner to see where your eyebrow ends. To find the arch, take the pencil and place it on your nose, lining it up diagonally, making sure that it moves right across the middle of your eye and points right where the eyebrow arch is. Once you’ve worked out all the logistics behind your shape, you can properly shape them.
Tweezing Your Brows
When you are tweezing your eyebrows, hold the skin around your eye taut as it will make the act of tweezing less painful and easier. You can also rub an ice cube around the area before and after tweezing to provide some relief. Go slowly, press lightly and quickly pull out the extra hair. It is important to pull the hair in the direction that it’s growing in, as pulling in the opposite direction can lead to inflammation, ingrown hairs, and even scarring. Also, do not overpluck your hairs, as it is bad for the hair follicles.
