The performing arts is one of the industries hit the hardest by the COVID-19 pandemic. After all, it’s not always easy to social distance or mask-wear when performing or seeing live shows. But thanks to the support of the community and extra safety precautions taken by WaterTower Theatre, our local Addison theatre still had a wonderful year!
“This past year proved to be very difficult for the arts community,” stated WaterTower Theatre. “However, there were many things that we still have to celebrate, in spite of all of the struggles.”
In 2020, WaterTower Theatre produced four mainstage productions: Harvey on Feb. 6-23, 2020; I Am My Own Wife on July 16-Aug. 2, 2020; The One Addison Concert on Sept. 17-30; and Ella’s Swinging Christmas on Nov. 27, 2020-Jan. 3, 2021. The last three of these mainstage productions were filmed and presented to audiences at home!
Additionally, WaterTower Theatre maintained a perfect safety record and employed Dallas/Fort Worth artists with paying jobs. These jobs included 37 actors, 12 musicians, five directors, three music directors, 15 film professionals, 20 designers and 12 backstage professionals!
“Thank you to everyone who has supported WaterTower Theatre through the pandemic, and for years past,” added WaterTower Theatre. “We look forward to the opportunities we have to create and share with you all this year.”
If you would like to continue to support high-quality professional theatre, consider giving a donation. This year, your donations will go twice as far because WaterTower Theatre’s Season Sponsor, the Town of Addison, will match every donation received up to $100,000!
Also, a special thanks goes out to all of WaterTower Theatre’s season sponsors, including Texas Commission on the Arts, the Shubert Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts, and TACA Performing for the Arts.
The next WaterTower Theatre show you can see is The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, which will be presented from March 4-21 virtually.
We wish WaterTower Theatre another successful year!
