Addison Residents Are Invited to Holiday in the Park

Addison Christmas carolers.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Addison! Everywhere you look, there are dazzling lights, shoppers finding deals at Village on the Parkway or the Shops at Willow Bend, families meeting Santa and going ice skating at Galleria Dallas, and friends gathering with their loved ones over a delicious meal at one of Addison’s many restaurants. Seriously, it’s impossible to keep the festive feeling at bay here – especially when you walk through the glittering Vitruvian Lights or sip on a peppermint mocha from a nearby coffee shop. The Addison City Council knows how amazing (and necessary!) this time of year is, which is why they were bummed to have to cancel the resident-only Holiday Open House. That’s why they have re-imagined the event and are now hosting Addison Holiday in the Park on Dec. 6 at Addison Circle Park for Addison residents only!

Due to the closure of the Addison Conference Centre and the current limitations on large social gatherings, the re-imagined annual resident event will be held from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. this Sunday. All Addison residents and their family are invited to this seasonal celebration.

“Residents can look forward to catered box meals, live performances of your favorite holiday tunes, a fun craft station, and virtual visits with Santa from the North Pole,” stated the Town of Addison.

While you’re there, enjoy live performances of traditional holiday music by costumed carolers on the main stage, as well as Motown covers of holiday tunes originally sung by artists such as The Temptations, The Jackson Five and Stevie Wonder.

Although the deadline to RSVP for a boxed lunch has passed, you can still attend the event – just bring your own lunch as there will be no food available for purchase on site.

In addition to the live music, you can also attend a craft station and enjoy balloon twisting. Families are encouraged to bring a camera to take advantage of the holiday photo ops located throughout the park that will make for Insta-worthy moments. Also, children can talk to Santa in a virtual meet and greet and let him know what they want for Christmas and take an outdoor picture with Mrs. Claus.

In order to reduce the risks associated with COVID-19, lawn seating will be separated into socially distanced circles for each group. Each circle is 8 feet in diameter and spaced at least six feet from other circles or walkways. Please bring your own lawn chairs and/or blankets to enjoy the concert. Masks are required for everyone ages 10 and up, except in designated areas (such as photo op locations as long as you are six feet away from others and in your designated circle), in order to promote a safe gathering in accordance with current guidelines and recommendations. Masks will be provided as needed. Attendees are advised to stay at home if they have recently been diagnosed with or are currently experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, or if they’ve recently had close contact with someone who has COVID-19. Hand sanitizer stations will be provided, and hand washing sinks are available in the Addison Circle Park restroom facilities, which will be disinfected throughout the event.

Free parking will be available at the Addison Conference and Theatre Centre parking lot, located at 15650 Addison Road, as well as street parking along Addison Circle and Festival Way. Find out more information here.

If you aren’t feeling very merry yet this season, then you don’t want to miss Addison Holiday in the Park. It’s going to be full of jolly holiday spirit – we can’t wait to see you all there!
