On your daily drive through Addison tomorrow, be prepared to see new stop signs at the intersection of Les Lacs Avenue and Waterford Drive. On Nov. 17, the Public Works and Engineering Services department in Addison will be officially installing these new stop signs.
According to a recent press release from the Town, “In response to concerns from the community, Addison hired an engineering firm, Kimley-Horn, to complete a stop sign warrant study of the intersections. Based on the study and using calculations of sight distance from the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials standards, it was determined that there is insufficient sight distance at the intersections. Since neither of these intersections meet the minimum sight distance standards, Kimley-Horn has recommended installing all-way stop controls at both intersections.”
For most people who live or work in Addison, the new stop signs should not come at a surprise. That’s because at the beginning of November, Town staff installed signs at the intersections notifying the community of the pending installation of new stop signs.
