As we get the final details ready for this year’s Thanksgiving meal, we wanted to share some tips on what drinks to pair with your meal. From wines to cocktails (and dessert cocktails), make this Thanksgiving Day a delicious one!
Let’s start with which wines to pair with your meal.
Thanksgiving dinner is full of all kinds of different dishes and it can be quite a task to pick the different wines that go with each part of the meal. If you are looking for a one-stop-shop type of wine, try a Sparkling wine and Champagne. These are versatile and can carry you from one course to the next.
Thanksgiving red wines are traditionally pinot noir, Syrah or zinfandel. If you are looking for a bottle of white wine, try sauvignon blanc, Riesling, Gewurztraminer and Viognier.
You don’t have to break the bank when it comes to a tasty wine for dinner. There are lots of different wineries to choose from that can fit any budget. Check out the wine selection at Whole Foods on the Village on the Parkway.
If you are looking to impress the family, try this delicious cocktail courtesy of Delish, The Pecan Pie Martini. I mean, it’s pecan pie in martini form!
- 3 Tbsp. caramel, microwaved until pourable.
- 1/4 cup toasted chopped pecans.
- Cool Whip
- 3 whole pecans
- Sprinkle of cinnamon
- 6 oz. Rumchata
- 6 oz. creme de cocoa
- 3 oz. bourbon
Place caramel and toasted chopped pecans on separate small shallow plates. Dip the rim of each glass first into the caramel and then into chopped pecans to coat.
Combine rumchata, creme de cocoa and bourbon in a large cocktail shaker. Fill with ice and shake until cold, 30 seconds. Pour into martini glasses and top with a dollop of whipped cream, a whole pecan, and a sprinkle of cinnamon.
Whichever wine or cocktail you choose, remember: don’t drink and drive. Stay safe and have fun!
