Premier Vision of Dallas Offers Halloween Safety Tips

Halloween is one of the most fun holidays. It’s a day where adults can be kids again, dressing up like their favorite characters and monsters and re-living the magic of their childhood. But you don’t want your temporary Halloween costume to cause permanent damage to your eyes! Addison-based Premier Vision of Dallas offers a fun safety tips to keep your retinas protected from accidental harm this season.

“Have you decided on this year’s Halloween costume?” asked Premier Vision of Dallas in a recent Facebook post. “For most costumes, makeup is the most essential part! Here are some tips to help you avoid eye irritation or infection while using makeup.”

Tips include:

  • Use clean brushes
  • Toss old/expired makeup
  • Don’t share makeup or applicators
  • Avoid putting eyeliner on your waterline
  • Remove all makeup before bed

Additionally, one of the most common ways to injure your eyes this season is by wearing colored contacts. Premier Vision of Dallas shared a Healthline article for their Facebook followers, which said, you should only purchase contacts from a reputable supplier who requires a prescription. If beauty parlors, costume shops, party stores and online retailers sell contacts without a prescription in the U.S., they are actually breaking the law. Yikes – one night of glowing red or green eyes is just now worth it.

Of course, you should be thinking of your eyes year-round, not just at Halloween. You can get a regular eye exam and prescription for glasses and contacts at Premier Vision of Dallas.
