Celebrate Texas Chicken Fried Steak Day this year by supporting a great cause. Norma’s Café and the Dallas Stars Foundation are partnering for the sixth annual Texas Chicken Fried Steak Day fundraiser “Come and Steak It.” The holiday takes place on Oct. 26, and even though this year things look a lot different than in years past, guests can still participate by ordering takeout or delivery.
According to a press release, “On Monday, October 26, guests are invited to join Norma’s Cafe and special guests on Facebook Live starting at 7 p.m. with a free virtual concert starring George Dunham and The Bird Dogs, who will bring their Texas Country and Gritty Rock for the second year in a row. Marty Turco of the Dallas Stars will emcee the night, and tease raffles with prizes ranging from dining experiences in San Antonio, VIP hotel stays in Dallas, signed Stars memorabilia, Chicken Fried Steak for a year from Norma’s and so much more.”
Guests can enter the raffle by donating to the Dallas Star Foundation directly and then forwarding the confirmation to firstname.lastname@example.org. Guests will receive one raffle entry for every $10 donation, which guests can use to request a song for the band to play during the virtual event!
Marty Turco, president and chairman of the board of the Dallas Stars foundation said, “After coming off of a record-winning season, I can’t think of a better way to celebrate what the Stars Foundation is all about – giving back to our community. We depend on donations and volunteers to fulfill our mission of nurturing and enriching the lives of those in need, and now it is easier than ever to show your support without having to leave your home.”
This special holiday was passed by Texas Legislature in 2011, with help from Norma’s Cafe owner, Ed Murph. Since 2015, Norma’s has raised more than $100,000 for the Dallas Stars Foundation and other non-profit organizations.
The Dallas Stars Foundation’s goal is to invest in the community by creating unique programs that support and improve the lives of people in need. for more information on the Dallas Stars Foundation, visit their website.
