It’s a beautiful month to enjoy art! As August heats up, stay cool by checking out the Summer Art Festival at Southwest Gallery, taking place every weekend in August. There will be different talented artists on site every weekend to show off their amazing painting skills! After admiring their work, you can shop some of their finished pieces for your own home.
The schedule is as follows:
- August 7 and 8: Kay Walton, Lynwood Bennett and Nancy Boren
- August 14 and 15: Dennis Johnson, Robert Fobear, Bob Hogan and Jewelry Creations by Inga Borgia
- August 21 and 22: Manuel Garza, George Kovach, Mark Whitmarsh and Jewelry Creations by Martha Boles
- August 28 and 29: Paul Walden, Linda Lucas Hardy and Jewelry Creations by Inga Borgia.
This week’s artist’s include Walton, whose work is inspired by Texas landscapes. She particularly notes the beauty of the Hill Country, “dotted with oaks, sparkling streams, winding roads and quaint farmhouses.” Bennett actually turned to fine art later in life. His recent work was inspired by the countryside in which he was raised. Finally, Boren’s gorgeous oil on canvas artwork depicts everything from majestic sailboats to renaissance faires.
