All you need is your car, a cooler full of cold drinks and snacks, and an appreciation for live music – then you’re all set for Addison Weekend Drive-In! This safe, free concert series in Addison was created by a town known for their fun festivals.
“We are excited to invite our guests back to the Addison Circle Park District for live entertainment,” said Jasmine Lee, director of Special Events in Addison, in a recent press release. “Our team has worked to create a fun and safe way to enjoy live music here in North Texas, and using the vacant south lot of Addison Circle Park provides the perfect location.”
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the town known as the place to gather and celebrate with great music, food and fun had to re-think their summer festival plans for 2020. That’s why Addison’s Special Events team came together to create a safe way for guests to enjoy live music together – Addison Weekend Drive-In presented by Oncor. Since this three-weekend series was announced in July, three more weekends of live music have been added to the lineup. Now, guests can enjoy a drive-in show through September 12!
The next show will take place on Aug. 28-29. On Friday night, Shot of Benatar, Texas’ premier Pat Benatar tribute band, will take the stage. Carrying on the ‘80s vibes is Even it Up, a Heart tribute band, performing on Saturday.
Attendees can come when gates open at 7:30 p.m. to find a parking spot for their vehicles (no one will be allowed entry without a vehicle). Then, they can watch the show from 8:30-10 p.m. from their cars, hatchbacks or truck beds. Music will be transmitted via both speaker system and FM radio tuned to 88.9 FM. Guests are asked to remain in or near their car during the entire performance. If you book an Addison hotel room for the weekend, send your name, hotel and confirmation number to Alisha Holmberg to reserve your space.
Come out to Addison Weekend Drive-In to have some socially distanced fun this summer! You don’t want to miss it.
