There’s something about summertime concerts that are so magical. It’s the way the music floats through the warm night air, creating a sense of wonder, hope and excitement. While you are laid out on a picnic blanket or dancing in the grass, you already know this is something memories are made of! And yet, this year, many of our favorite summertime traditions had to be postponed, including Taste Addison and Addison Kaboom Town! In light of that, the town decided one way they could safely bring people together was through their new Addison Weekend Drive-In, kicking off July 17 and 18!
Addison Weekend Drive-In, presented by Oncor, will bring live music back to the Addison Circle District, while guests enjoy it from the comfort of their own cars. These concerts will feature music by popular local bands, which will be transmitted via speaker system and FM radio, providing excellent audio quality to all guests. No matter where you park, you can enjoy excellent audio quality!
This weekend, you can hear All Funk Radio Show from 8:30-10 p.m. Friday and D City Rock from 8:30-10 p.m. Saturday. All Funk provides an authentic high-energy dance band experience with a repertoire of more than 150 songs that include old school R&B, Motown, pop, hip-hop and more. D City is a ‘70s and ‘80s classic rock tribute band, playing everything from the Eagles to Prince to Lynard Skynard to Bon Jovi.
Admission is free and gates open at 7:30 p.m. Parking is limited, so be sure to show up on time to snag a spot! Although there will be no food vendors onsite, guests are encouraged to support Addison restaurants via dine-in or takeout before the show. And if you aren’t local, or if you just want to turn the weekend’s events into a mini staycation, then book an Addison hotel room for then night! Afterward, email your name, hotel and confirmation number to Alisha Holmberg at email@example.com to reserve a parking space.
COVID-19 can’t cancel our summer! Make the most of it by checking out these live music acts this weekend and make some new memories.
