Pears are one of my favorite fruits. They are so soft, sweet and delicious, I could eat them every day! Normally, people talk about pears in the wintertime when they are in season. However, pears are still tasty in the summertime, mixed into drinks and salads. Check out a few of these delicious treats featuring pears available in the Corridor.

Desert Pear ‘Rita, Cantina Laredo

This pink drink is so refreshing, you’ll want to order it again and again! The new Desert Pear ‘Rita from Cantina Laredo is made with Sauza Tequila Silver, MONIN Desert Pear and pineapple syrups, and fresh lime juice. It’s a wonderful drink to enjoy on hot days.

Apple and Pear White Sangria, Whole Foods

Make a tasty Apple and Pear White Sangria by buying all the ingredients at Whole Foods Addison. Love Grows Wild by Liz Fourez posted the following recipe. Combine one bottle of Moscato wine, ½ cup lemon liqueur, the zest of two lemons and ¼ granulated sugar. Stir until sugar dissolves. Add ¼ cup fresh lemon juice, one Granny Smith apple thinly sliced, one Bartlett pear thinly sliced and mix well. Place pitcher in the fridge for four hours, then top off with one can of seltzer. It’s so sweet, you’ll want to drink the whole thing.

Fresh Pear and Romaine Salad, Whole Foods

Make your salads more interesting by making this Fresh Pear and Romaine Salad from Taste of Home, with all the ingredients also available at Whole Foods. Add 1 T. lemon juice, 1 T. rice vinegar, 1 T. white balsamic vinegar, 1 T. honey, ½ tsp. salt, ½ tsp. Dijon mustard, ¼ tsp. coarsely ground pepper and 2/3 cup coarsely chopped peeled fresh pear into a blender. While its mixing, slowly add 1/3 cup olive oil. Once your dressing is done, toss Romaine lettuce with the salad dressing. From there, add salt and pepper, one sliced pear, one cup glazed pecans, one cup crumbled Gorgonzola cheese and ½ dried cherries on top. It’s healthy and delicious!
