The 2020 DART Student Art Contest winners were recently announced, including best-in-show winner Amber Li, a student at the Hockaday School in Dallas. The winners were announced online this year in lieu of an awards ceremony, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Li’s work, based on the theme “Paint the town ___. Ride DART”, was selected from 1,174 entries from students in kindergarten through 12th grade. Her theme was “Paint the town with magic,” and it showcased a dart bus flying through the area of downtown Dallas, while various people enjoyed meals in a local restaurant. The 9th grader received a $1,000 cash prize by Dallas Contemporary and her winning art is now being displayed on the side of a DART bus traveling across the agency’s 13-city service area.
