Winter Skincare

Cold weather is a beautiful gift to Texans – a break from the endless heat, what could be better? – but it brings with it a unique set of problems for our skin. Dry, cracking hands, chapped lips and rough skin can be so annoying! Luckily, there are a few things you can do to get your beautiful summer glow back, without the triple-digit temperatures.

According to the American Academy of Dermatology, you can relieve dry, flak, itchy skin with a few simple tips: keep baths and showers short, use moisturizer after showering, use a humidifier to add moisture to the air, and apply hand cream after each hand washing.

There are also several products available in the Corridor that can help. The Tarte Sugar Rush – Cake Butter Whipped Body Butter ($23 from Ulta) is a phenomenal choice. This heavenly, frosting-like product is made with vitamin E, shea butter and sweet almond oil to hydrate your skin in a natural way – without leaving a greasy residue.

Help your face stay moisturized and un-damaged by using the Supergoop! Superscreen Daily Moisturizer ($38 from Sephora). This hydrating facial cream contains a broad-spectrum SPF 40 to protect your skin from the harmful UV rays, blue light and pollution, which can cause dryness, wrinkles and burns even in the winter. It is also formulated with blue-green algae, cerium, and moisture-binding plant fermentation film to leave skin looking fresh and healthy.

If your lips are bothering you, try the FRESH Sugar Lip Advanced Therapy ($26 from Neiman Marcus). This lip treatment (which comes in clear or a pink tint) has been proven to “significantly boost moisture for 24 hours, enhance volume and improve the definition of the lip area.” The formula is made with sea fennel to smooth fine lines, and orange extract to keep lips protected.

Don’t let the winter ruin your skin (or your confidence). Just adding these tips and products into your daily routine will keep you healthy and happy all winter long.
