Delicious Sangria in Winter

We are in the thick of winter. Valentine’s dates, family get-togethers, dinner parties and more. It’s a season of lots of social events, dinners and going for drinks with friends to catch up. While I do love winter, I still look for small subtle things that remind me that summer will be back soon and I’ll be back on the beach listening to the waves and relaxing.

One of those things for me is one of our favorite summertime drinks. Sangria.

So, let’s talk sangria.

It comes to us from the beautiful country of Spain and can be made with either red or white wine; add chopped fruit, fruit juice and you have yourself a deliciously refreshing drink.

Head over to Chuy’s on Belt Line and try their version of Sangria. It’s made with El Jimador Tequila, red wine, and fresh fruit juice. A delicious drink with a bit of a bite. Of course, if you’re there for their happy hour, enjoy the Fully Loaded Nacho Car. Oh yeah, and the nacho car is free!

Blue Goose on Midway gives us a tropical twist to Sangria. The Mango Sangria is made with tropical sweet white wine to give this mango sangria a delicious beach-feel taste.

If you want to enjoy it by the warmth of your fireplace or fire pit at home, here’s a great recipe to try at home. It comes from Food Assistant Makinze Gore at This is how easy it is to make:

“In a large pitcher, mix together wine, seltzer, orange juice, brandy, and sugar then stir in oranges, apples, blueberries, and strawberries.”

That’s it! Seriously, there’s not a lot to it and you can make it in under 10 minutes! Find the full recipe on their website.
