Sara Lennon’s Oil Paintings at Addison Conference Centre, through Dec. 8

Calling all nature lovers and art enthusiasts: Sara Lennon’s beautiful oil paintings are up at the Addison Conference Centre through Dec. 8! Her gorgeous paintings are part of the Addison Art Program, which was designed to showcase the talented work of local artists for the entire community to enjoy.

According to Lennon’s artist statement, “A strong connection to the land and nature and an interest in other cultures inspires much of my artistic work. I am particularly drawn to color, texture and pattern.”

As a young girl, Lennon grew up in a family who enjoyed the outdoors and with a mother who loved art and history – and promoted both through museum visits. These formed the foundation of her love of arts. When she was older, she was fortunate enough to be able to study in Paris, France, as an undergraduate language major. She fell in love with this remarkable city, its history, and its art. After graduating, she went on an adventure, spending twelve years in France working in the academic field with opportunities to travel extensively in Eastern and Western Europe, North Africa and the Middle East.

“These inspiring experiences have continued to enrich my life and led me to explore my own artistic expression at the Craft Guild of Dallas and more extensively at Brookhaven College School of the Arts,” continued Lennon in her artist’s statement.

Other upcoming shows include Roy Stockard’s photographs from Dec. 10-Jan. 20, 2020 and Don Taylor’s oil paintings from Jan. 21-March 2.

The Addison Art Program began in 2016 as a way to encourage the Town of Addison to improve the look of the walls of the Conference Centre and to encourage support of the local visual arts. A special gallery-type hanging system was installed in 2017, complete with horizontal rails and moveable wires and hooks that don’t damage the walls or building. The first show was featured in July 2017.
