How to Dress for Thanksgiving

Turkey Day is almost here! It’s a holiday all about eating – pies, casseroles, bread, deviled eggs and So. Much. Turkey. So, the most important question of all is: what are you going to wear? You want to look nice (it is a family gathering after all), but you also want to wear something that will still look flattering after your second helping of dinner. Here are a few fashionable looks that are only slightly less comfortable than the T-shirt and sweatpants you wish you could wear.

A Flattering Dress

More formal occasions require a nicer look. You can’t go wrong with a beautiful knee-length dress in the versatile autumn shade of burgundy. The Ann Taylor Boatneck Dress in Bi-Stretch ($159) will be your new go-to, as it is sleek with a tailored fit and built with a four-way stretch fabric designed to let you move and breathe freely (especially important on Thanksgiving!) Pair this with chunky boots and your favorite scarf to complete the look.

The Perfect Jumpsuit

I’m a firm believer that the right jumpsuit will solve all your problems – at least, your fashion problems. One of my personal favorites is the ASTR The Label velvet jumpsuit ($89 from Nordstrom). This Christmas-tree green long-sleeve jumpsuit features a textured ribbing pattern with flared legs, a V-neck top and matching belt. Wear it with heels and rock your Thanksgiving party!

Sweater and Leggings

When you want to take that post-turkey nap in peace, and still look good for your entire dinner party, then go with a sweater and leggings. This trendy look is super comfortable and looks amazing. I like the Zenergy So Slimming Crop Leggings ($59.50 from Chico’s). These look like your regular all-black leggings on the outside, but on the inside, they are made with the exclusive Hidden Fit technology that slims and smooths the tummy. Plus, they are super stretchy, so you don’t have to worry about awkwardly trying to unbutton your jeans after dinner. Wear a loose-fitting sweater over it, like the Eileen Fisher Lightweight Cozy Turtleneck Tunic ($248 from Neiman Marcus). This golden-yellow sweater is long, covering your hips and upper thighs. Wear a sparkly necklace or earrings to brighten the outfit even more.
