One of my favorite things to do is to hang out with friends and family. Along with that, I love making Cuban coffee for them and sharing a dessert as we talk, joke, laugh and catch up on life together. Over the years I’ve seen how much these get-togethers mean to me and how they have helped strengthen my relationships with friends. Sept. 29 is National Coffee Day so you can bet this one is a big deal for me. Having said that, here are a few of our favorite spots for a delicious cup of joe.
Astoria Caffe & Wine Bar
Right in the heart of Addison Circle, Astoria serves Lavazza coffee. Lavazza is widely regarded as Italy’s favorite coffee. Grab a coffee, hot or cold and sit outside on one of their tables and enjoy the nice weather we’re having over the weekend. www.astoriacaffe.com
Scooter’s company mission is “to keep customers happy by helping them ‘scoot in and scoot out’ quickly.” Drive down Belt Line between Marsh and Midway and you will find Scooter’s on right on the corner of Belt Line and Runyon. They offer delicious coffee drinks made from the best coffee beans in the world. Whether hot, iced or blended, Scooter’s has you covered and will have you on your way in no time. www.scooterscoffee.com
We’ve been going to Norma’s Café for as long as I can remember. My dad absolutely loves the coffee here. It’s not rare to find him sitting in one of their booths drinking coffee and spending time with mom here. And so, we’ve continued this tradition and we’ll join them from time to time here. Of course, we order a slice of pie or cake to go along with the coffee. www.normascafe.com
Pete’s Café serves delicious home cooking. It’s a great spot to grab a cup of coffee and sit and talk. The atmosphere here is relaxed, everyone is family and if you don’t keep up with the time, you’ll find yourself four to six cups of coffee in and not realize it. If I had a nickel for every time this has happened to me here, I wouldn’t need to pay for coffee anymore. Follow Pete’s Café on Facebook.
Dunn Brothers Coffee
Dunn Brothers roast their beans on-site in order to serve the freshest coffee possible. They source top-grade varieties, so you are guaranteed to have the best tasting coffee possible. Along with the traditional latte’s, cappuccino’s and traditional coffee, they feature Infinite Black Cold Press. According to their website, “It’s slow-brewed for 24 hours, this unique cold press coffee is bold, smooth, and robustly caffeinated.” www.dunnbrothers.com
