Share Your Local Food on Instagram

I’m going humblebrag just a little here and say that I think I have one of the coolest jobs. I get to try out new restaurants, sit and talk with chefs, other foodies and eat amazing food. I mean, I know not everyone cares about food as much as I probably do, but I still have to pinch myself sometimes because it’s so surreal that I get paid to do this. What started out as just posting pictures of the places I was eating at, actually turned into being able to write stories and share with people the amazing work that these restaurants are doing. Like me, there are others who love to share through Instagram all of the things they’re eating. We love eating good food and we love to share those places with our friends and family.

A fellow foodie friend of mine, @jennkpop, says this about sharing pictures of what she eats on her Instagram account, “I love eating and I also love taking pictures of what I eat. I wanted to show that you can take pictures of your food with a phone, you don’t have to go out and buy a camera.”

With over 170 restaurants in Addison alone, there are plenty of opportunities to take some amazing pictures of the delicious food we have around.

Growing up we’d always try to get a picture of someone grabbing a slice of pizza and having the cheese stretch off the slice as you pull it away. For that perfect cheese pull picture, try Taste of Chicago on Midway. For authentic New York style pizza, you have to go to Bacci’s Pizza & Pasta or Zoli’s NY Pizza.

Authentic Brazilian Gauchos serve your choice of meat table side

Recreate the iconic “spaghetti kiss” from Lady and the Tramp at Kenny’s Italian Kitchen. For that perfect shot of a glass of wine, try Mercy Wine Bar. Lots of different wines to try and they have a nice patio where you can hang out and watch people walk by. It makes for lots of great shots of the wineglass with a blurred background of people walking.

Every meat lover loves a shot of a perfectly cooked steak. Look no further than Chamberlain’s Steak and Chophouse, Al Biernat’s, III Forks and Ruth’s Chris Steak House for this. At III Forks, the presentation of their New York Strip Steak is just phenomenal. It comes out on a wood plank with a tablespoon of bourbon infused salt that is set on fire as it comes to your table. Simply amazing. For an exotic twist on grilled meats, try Texas de Brazil or Fogo de Chao. Snap a picture as the Gauchos come by and bring out the different cuts of meat.

Of course, we also have amazing burgers. Snuffer’s ‘Burger of the Month’ offering is always picture perfect as well as the regular burgers on the menu. For seafood, you can’t go wrong with Chamberlain’s Fish Market and Nate’s Seafood and Steakhouse. Lots of creative dishes to enjoy here and the presentation is impeccable.

Nate’s Hush Puppies and garlic bread

For south of the border dishes, Chuy’s Chile Rellenos are a thing of beauty. Make sure to ask for the green Chile avocado sauce and get it in the picture. Their margaritas are also delicious and look great on camera. La Ventana Taqueria has authentic street tacos as well as churros that are easy to photograph as well.

So, the next time you are out to lunch or dinner, snap a picture of your meal and share it and tag us on it. We love trying out new places.
