The Cinco de Mayo weekend is here, and we are more than a little excited for all the restaurant specials on food and drinks. While the date commemorates the Mexican army’s victory over the French Empire at the Battle of Puebla in 1862, here in the U.S. it has become a sort of symbol Mexican-American culture. Thanks to some advertising campaigns in the 80s by beer and wine companies, Cinco de Mayo has gained incredible popularity. It’s a day where restaurants and bars run lots of food and drink specials, as well as parties and more.
