Tuxedo Dress Trend

Tuxedos have been cool for men since James Bond started wearing them in the ‘60s—but the tuxedo dress didn’t really take off until earlier this year when the new Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, rocked one at a charity function, causing women everywhere to fall in love with the trend. The sexy menswear-inspired look can be achieved by wearing an oversized tuxedo jacket tightened with a belt, a pair of heels and (most importantly) no pants. Shops in the Corridor have a variety of options to choose from so you can show up to your next party in style!

Balmain Blazer Dress, Neiman Marcus – $2,650

Wear a black tuxedo dress like Markle, as it will instantly make a statement. This Balmain dress from Neiman Marcus is double-breasted and features a gorgeous gold-tone six-button trim. The deep V-neck and high hemline (it hits right at upper thigh), makes this a stunning choice for date night.

ASTR THE LABEL Blazer Dress, Nordstrom – $148

This houndstooth grey dress is soft and feminine, perfect for your next holiday event. It is tailored to show off your waist, and it is double-breasted with four pockets and large patch pockets on the front. Pair with booties and you are ready to go!

Tuxedo Dress Vest, Zara – $99.90

Look like a goddess in this winter white tuxedo dress vest from Zara. The all-white, sleeveless dress is double-breasted with four white fabric buttons on the front. It curves in at the waist and is slightly flared at the hem for an ultra-flattering look that you will want to wear everywhere.

Elie Saab Tuxedo Jacket, Neiman Marcus – $1,575

Not ready to commit to this striking trend? Start slowly by wearing a long tuxedo jacket over a short dress. This white Elie Saab long tuxedo jacket is double-breasted with six buttons on the front and a notched collar. Wear it open over a short dress, or button it up and tie a belt around it to make it a tuxedo dress. Either way, it is must-have jacket this season.
