“Lady with Cat”

Tucked in the corner of Sigma and Welch Road, Southwest Gallery sits just off the Dallas North Tollway across from the Galleria. One of the gallery’s November shows is Russian Impressionism. This compelling collection includes some of Russia’s finest art. Southwest Gallery houses stunning paintings, sculptures, art glass and framing that radiates with rich artistic culture from the 19th to 20th century. The 16,000-square-foot showroom has been standing for more than 50 years.

Featuring 22 paintings from the Russian Impressionist art movement, this exquisite exhibition will captivate audiences. Impressionism is a 19th-century style that uses a technique with small, thin brush strokes. There is an emphasis on light and its changing qualities as well as movement. With Impressionist paintings, human perception and experience are apparent. Russian Impressionism developed independently from European and French Impressionist art during the 1860s all the way to 1930. Artists combined a variety of styles with a great amount of symbolism. Visit Southwest Gallery from 1–5 p.m. to see their Russian Impressionism exhibit. You’re guaranteed to see impressive work from the best and brightest academically trained Russian artists.
