It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Well, almost. But preparing the city for the joys of the holiday season takes hard work and lots of participation, and we think you’re really going to enjoy how Addison is getting in the spirit!
Addison Circle Tree Lighting
This is an annual event filled with tons of excitement. Each year, residents gather at Beckert Park to watch the Christmas tree come to life and illuminate Addison Circle. There will be plenty of activities for children and adults alike including horse carriage rides, face painting, holiday shopping, refreshments, an appearance by the Trinity Christian Academy Choir, and, of course, a visit from Santa. And in true Addison character, nonperishable food items or unwrapped toys will be collected and donated to the Metrocrest Food Bank. It’s the perfect way to commence the season and it takes place on Friday, November 18th, at 6:30 PM.
Speaking of illumination, Vitruvian Park is preparing to flip their switch on one of our town’s most exciting holiday spectaculars. “Vitruvian Park will be transformed into a dazzling and magical holiday wonderland during Vitruvian Lights when millions of LED lights will be wrapped around more than 550 trees.” Town of Addison Mayor, Todd Meier, will help make the season brighter at 6:00 PM on November 25th, followed by a live concert, gourmet food trucks, and photos with Santa.
Resident Holiday Brunch & Open House
As stated on the town’s website, “The Addison Mayor and City Council invite you and your family to the 2016 annual Holiday Brunch & Open House” at the Addison Conference Centre, where guests will enjoy holiday music, arts & crafts, and entertainment. This is a great way to mingle with fellow Corridor residents and truly feel the warmth of our community. If you’re interested in making an appearance, please RSVP at https://www.showclix.com/event/HolidayOpenHouse.
Run for the Lights
New in the line up this year is Run for the Lights, taking place on December 2nd at 7:00 PM. According to Mary Rosenbleeth, Director of Public Communications for the Town of Addison, “The 5k race goes all through Vitruvian Lights and is billed ‘Bright Lights and Fun Times for a Worthy Cause.'” Upon registration, participants receive night holiday glow run, long sleeve race shirt, and an LED Santa hat.
Holiday Cease the Grease
Now, this may not be as warm and fuzzy as the other steps Addison is taking this holiday season, but it is of equal importance. Our town strives to keep our home in tip top shape, so they’re encouraging all residents to avoid pouring Holiday grease down the drain, as this type of action can cause sanitary sewer overflows. Instead, drop it off between November 29th and January 7th at either Addison Service Center or Whole Foods for recycling!
