Trends come and go like the wind. Now that we’ve reached 2014, there’s a whole new host of beauty trends projected to take over this year.
To help you keep up with these ever-changing trends, we’ve decided to highlight five of this winter’s trendiest beauty colors. Whether you decide to smear that hot shade on your lips, eyes or nails, any of the following hues will have you looking like the coolest chick around.
Dark blue and navy made a splash on the winter runway. DKNY painted its model’s digits with an opaque navy shade to give an overall edgy look. A daring blue smoky eye is also a hot beauty trend of the season. For rocker chic nails, slather on a layer or two of Deborah Lippmann Limited-Edition “Rolling in the Deep” Nail Polish ($17, Neiman Marcus at Willow Bend).
Red nails and berry-stained lips were a frequent sight at the winter runway shows. You can opt for a ruby shade, as seen at Burberry, like Tom Ford Beauty Nail Lacquer in “Scarlet Chinois” ($32, Neiman Marcus Willow Bend). For edgy, red-stained lips, try NARS Pure Matte Lipstick in “Vesuvio” ($26, Sephora Galleria Dallas).
Greys and silvers made a comeback on the runway this season, as well. Dior models adorned their eyes with silver liner while models working the “no makeup look” rocked wispy, light silver shadow. For a trendy ice grey liner, try Marc Jacobs Beauty Highliner Gel Crayon in “Ice” ($25, Sephora Galleria Dallas).
Lavender, Orchid and Pastel Purple
These delicate, sweet shades are so hot this year they’ve even been called the “hue of the year for 2014.” You can apply these trendy shades to eyes, nails or lips.
For a pretty eyeshadow, apply Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Cream Shadow in “Cool Lilac” ($24, Neiman Marcus Willow Bend). To give your nails the royal treatment, slather butter LONDON Nail Lacquer in “Fairy Lights” ($15, Nordstrom Galleria Dallas) on your digits. And pick up NARS Velvet Matte Lipstick Pencil in “Paimpol” ($25, Nordstrom Galleria Dallas) for a cool, matte shade.
Nude lips and nails are also one of winter’s trendiest beauty colors, according to Vogue and Fashion Allure. Pair a smoky eye look with a glossy nude shade, like NARS Lipstick in “Honolulu Honey” ($26, Nordstrom Galleria Dallas). For nude nails, try Deborah Lippmann Nail Lacquer in “Naked” ($17, Sephora Willow Bend).
