Live music in the great outdoors is a summer must. Luckily, Addison’s annual Summer Series provides a great outdoor venue and awesome lineup both casual and serial concert-goers will enjoy—and have enjoyed.
For 10 years, Addison’s Summer Series has entertained audiences and provided a fun, free event the whole family can appreciate. The Town of Addison’s Director of Special Events Barbara Kovacevich says the series has been a hit since its inaugural year.
“The variety of free concerts in a beautiful park surrounded by a variety of restaurants has been a great combination to draw thousands of people to Addison every weekend during the summer months,” Kovacevich says. “In fact, we see many repeat patrons not only every weekend but every year, as well.”
The outdoor concert series allows for patrons to pack a picnic or head out to one of Addison’s popular restaurants, such as Texas de Brazil or Antonio Ristorante, and experience live performances with their family and friends under the stars.
Kovacevich says around 10,000 people will attend the Summer Series this year and that the music themes are perfect for the event.
“The Summer Series features songwriters in June, jazz in July and salsa in August. We varied the themes a little over the years; however, the current mix of music seems to be a good fit,” Kovacevich says.
This month, Beckert Park is the place to be for sizzling tropical music every Saturday night with “Summer Salsa,” which will feature some of North Texas’ top salsa bands.
The following bands are sure to get the crowd on their feet with their bumping sounds and beats:
- August 3rd: Orquesta Zone D’Mambo
- August 10th: Lara Latin
- August 17th: Havana NRG
- August 24th: Parranda Venezuela
- August 31st: Clave y Sabor
The fun starts at 8 p.m. but get there an hour early for free salsa lessons by the Dance Council of North Texas. See you there!
