Perfect Fall Craft Beers

Fall Beer
Which fall craft beer should you enjoy this season?

A light, refreshing beer is always a good go-to beverage on a hot summer day. But when the weather starts to cool down, a darker, more flavorful beer will hit the right spot on an autumn evening.

It’s no surprise that Addison and the North Dallas Corridor feature many restaurants, bars and grocery stores where you can find the perfect fall craft beers. Here are five of the top fall craft beers you should try this season. Bottoms up!

Lakewood Brewing Co. Punkel, 5.8 percent alcohol by volume (ABV)

This seasonal fall beer hits all the right notes. A dunkel is a dark lager with a “smooth malty flavor,” typical of dark German lagers. Lakewood Brewing Co. perks up this smooth dunkel with pumpkin spice, a fitting ingredient for the fall season. Get a pint of this spicy craft brew at The Flying Saucer.

Deep Ellum Brewing Company Rocktoberfest Ale, 7.5 percent ABV

The Deep Ellum crew produced a good beer made with an ancient process. This Sticke-style Altbier is brewed using heated stones, hot granite to be exact, to bring back “the smoky caramelized character brought by those wood fired rocks of old.” Delightful. Drink a glass of this rockin’ fall craft beer at The Flying Saucer or Whole Foods Addison.

Abita Brewing Company Pecan Harvest Ale, 5.2 percent ABV

This ale is made with real Louisiana roasted pecans, giving the brew a nutty, slightly smoky flavor. Abita’s ale nicely balances the nutty and malt flavors, making it a perfect pairing with red meat. Try a pint of this flavorful fall craft beer at The Flying Saucer or Malarkey’s Irish Tavern.

Rogue Ales Hazelnut Brown Nectar, 6.2 percent ABV

Oregon’s Rogue Ales offers a brew available year-round that’s perfect for this season. This American brown ale has a malty, hoppy, slightly nutty taste with hints of sweet caramel, coffee and mild chocolate.  Enjoy a glass of this gratifying fall craft beer at The Flying Saucer.

Left Hand Brewing Co. Oktoberfest Märzen Lager, 6.6 percent ABV

Left Hand takes this award-winning brew seriously. “We start brewing in the spring and it takes a full two months to reach lagered perfection,” Left Hand says on their website. This beer packs a hop bite with toasty malty flavor, perfect for autumn nights. Try a stein of this signature fall craft beer at The Flying Saucer or purchase a pack to-go at Whole Foods Addison.
